Putnam Investments is established.

Founded by George Putnam, the company creates one of the first “balanced funds” in the U.S. this year. It is acquired by Marsh & McLennan Companies in 1970, moves to One Post Office Square in 1974, and to 100 Federal Street in 2018. The company is acquired by Power Financial Corp. in 2006.
